I have a big cedar dresser that is at least 50 years old. It looks like it has pine sap on the sides on some of the boards. It has not been in an enclosed building but I don't think it has gotten wet. Short of stripping the varnish off, is there any way to clean it? I used Murphy's oil soap to get the dust and cobwebs off of it. And if I do strip it, is there a special liquid to use? Then what kind of stain would I use on it? Thanks for your help.
