Everyday across America new inventions, new ideas, and innovations bring us great new products that better suit our needs or simply do the job better. As technology progresses, yesterday's tools cease to be needed and become history. Soon forgotten they begin to fill boxes in the garage or attic until the yearly garage sale or until we perish ourselves.
Sadly, most of the time after this all happens, this stuff usually becomes greatly unappreciated. It becomes to most, simply junk. This is where our job starts! By finding these items, cleaning them up and giving them a story we are writing physical history. A single item can paint a picture in time when life posed different and unique challenges. The characteristics of an item can tell you all about our country in its time by observing the material or techniques used in its manufacture. It is important that these artifacts be preserved for future generations, and thus our mission.
