I just came from an auction preview and spotted the most unusual doll. It's a large, old composition and cloth doll in a leather box. The maker's ID on the box is William Bal, New York. The bottom part of the doll is made of wood and under her dress there is a copper, canteen-like container you fill with water and when you raise her leg she pees. She looks like 1920's or 30's maybe. Has anyone heard of such a thing or have a clue about value? Someone told the auctioneer they suspected only a handful of the dolls had ever been made. Sorry, no picture.

I have something similar but it's a little "bear" boy. It came from my Grandmother's house. In a sliding cardboard box, similar to stick matches. Only about 3" or so tall. Had blue rubber hat that comes off, fill with water, replace the cap... we would take turns chasing each other around with it as kids. I know it's modeled after a famous statue in???... wanna say Amsterdam!?!

I know what you mean, but the one I spotted was an actual, large doll. We had an ice storm so I didn't get back to the auction to find out what it sold for. I'll have to ask the auctioneer.
