I was just wondering if anyone had any idea where besides ebay I could find a light purple/amethyst lightning rod ball. My mother accidentally broke one my father had and they are both very upset over it and I'd like to try to find them a replacement one.

I found one on ebay that looks exactly like the one that got broke.

Also, does anyone know what a reasonable price would be to pay for one of these?

    Hi,
Ebay is a great source because typically, these are hard to find at antique stores and the like. Often sellers do not realize what the glass ball used to be and put it in a bowl with fishing floats or lamp parts. Let us know how your search goes.

Okay, I found one exactly like the one he had on ebay... it is just a plain one that is amethyst color.

Does anyone know what the price range for these are?

Checking ebay, I found balls ranging in price from about $50 at the high end to those around $10 (current price). Check out these two: 180239126220, 170215684024. I'm not sure about the shipping and handling costs on them. You always have to be careful about that on ebay, because some sellers add outrageous cost for shipping and handling if they don't get their price.

    mseadog23,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I did find a lightning rod ball just like the one that was broken, and I got it for around $30.

I mentioned to him that he might want to look for them in his antique stores mistaken for lamp parts of fishing floats-- so he has been keeping busy these past couple of weeks.

He is so excited so I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all of your help!

    Shan
