I helped a friend on Friday get ready for her yard sale on Saturday. Ran into her Sat. afternoon and she told me she made $75. She had very nice and desirable things but I knew her sale would not be a success. first her neighbor (who was also having a sale) wrote the ad and it did not really "sell" an interesting sale. Then my friend did not approach this task as the job it really is. A successful sale needs lots of preparation. Getting stuff from the attic the morning before is not really time enough. | |||

I agree. You can't just throw a sale together just a day before. Actually, it takes weeks, if not months of prep. I start sorting, pricing as I sort. Then boxing. Boxes are set aside in garage or out of the way room in the house. Same thing with furniture. Decide what's no longer needed or wanted. A sale is NOT a spur of the minute idea.
