I've got some silver pitchers and platters that were a wedding gift of my parents from a foreign exchange student that my grandparents hosted back in the early 70's. The silver is from Chile and I'm not sure of the quality. From the little research I've done its probably not great stuff as far as heirloom quality or anything. Not even sure if its silver or silver plate. Its stamped Windsor Plaque.
Does anyone have any experience in selling any precious metals? Should I bother to shine it up first to drive up the selling price? I really don't know if this would be sold for weight or because of the items themselves. It has zero sentimental value so would just be looking for some quick cash but at a fair value.
To sell for silver content the pieces would have to be sterling. Any sterling pieces would be marked in some way that would indicate they were sterling. Doesn't matter what country they are from.
Jewelry are the best wedding gift whether it may be gold or silver. The jewelry of late 70's are the most precious one. Now a days such types of jewelry are not available or if they found then that is in less number with rare collection.
