Hi all, I have a 1968 Hardwick combo stove that's in great condition except that my lower oven knob was recently broken. The company says they no longer have the part on hand. Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to either find an knob or get one made? Thanks!
Dear mammee, have you tried looking at a used appliance(sp?) store? They may have "odds and ends" of pieces from your oven. Other place to look would be the Salvation(sp) Army store or a "junk" store. they always have a bunch of odds and ends. Off the wall idea is to think about making the knob out of one of those clays that you make thing out of and then bake the clay. I can't remember the names of the clays( there are a few) but any craft store will know what you mean.As a last resort, could you make a dial out of heavy cardboard? Or something else like that? HTH, msmarymac2
Thanks msmarymac2 for your ideas. The problem is that the knob is also the temperature control, so it's not just making something that I can dial, it has to be the thermostat, too. I will look at the stores you suggested, though. Thanks!
mammee, do you know the model # of your stove or better yet, the part number of the knob. There are a couple places online that might have it.
If you know any of the above info, please post and I see what I can dig up.
edit:
If you know your part #, perhaps this place has one. The page linked (hopefully!) lists the knobs they have in stock for Hardwick stoves. It appears there are quite a few temp control knob/dials there.
