My sister is having her 50th wedding anniversary this year and she asked me to come up with some ideas for a favor. I am going to make the mini candy bars, but would like something else, something that they can take home as a keep-sake. (That's what she wants)

Does anyone have any ideas? It's going to be a buffet style and open house so setting place settings won't work. And she is looking at about 200 invites (she owns a business and her church friends plus her family). They did bookmarks for their 25th and she doesn't want to do that again. Altho that was so many years ago, and she has different friends and church friends now.

The reason I said so many invited was because I don't want to do things that will cost a lot. I know I'm asking a lot . lol

Thanks in advance for putting on your thinking caps. I've started googleing today.

Jean

Make Lollipop Candles, the tags could say Happy 50th Anniverersary.

Cover binder clips with scrap paper-you do not have to paint them. Maybe copy small pics (run off from your copier)from their wedding and add to the clips. Or attach a circle that says Happy 50th Anniversary.

Make Emery Board Holders out of scrap paper-glue together then add the board inside. You find packs of them at Dollar Tree.

Thank you Annie...what a great bunch of ideas.!!!! I really like the one of the clips as she is an accountant and that is the kind of clips she likes. Will have to get her on here to see what you have posted.

And the lollipop candles too.

I found a pic of a tealight candle angel, it might be cheaper to make than the lollipop candles.

I like the tea light angels and you can get tea lights a bag full at dollar store sometimes. you can make fans.. the wedding I went to had fans with wooden handles. the fans had bride and groom name etc. you could make them or have then printed.. with bride and groom names, the date, even a pic of them... or I think pretty inexpensive to have printed up.

A wedding I went to a couple of years ago gave out a cd of the couples favorite songs. You could buy the cd's and print a label and then copy the songs to a cd. I used to do a lot of it a couple of years ago with custom labels. And you could put a picture of the couple on the cd label and the date of the wedding. It is not hard, but will take some time. Good luck!

Don't know what time of year the event is, but a pretty bag with fall, spring or summer bulbs wrapped in tissue paper, ready to plant can be a nice surprise with a little note inside?

This is their 50th anniversary, not a wedding and they ae talking 200 guests. Really wanting to keep the costs down some.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I showed her all you 'guys' have posted and she is still trying to make up her mind.

Thank you Kraftylady for the heads up but wish annie would just delete that post if it's a virus. I almost clicked on it - thank goodness I scrolled down to see the rest before I did. Hope no one else does!

That's a large guest list, and I always find it hard to come up with favors for both males & females without having the make 2 different kind. You have some great suggestions here already, but here are a few more.
I don't know when the party is, but if it's going to be hot and the guests will be outside...maybe printed paper fans:

http://www.squidoo.com/wedding-ideas-hand-fans

diy personalized/message Ink Pens and you could have a guestbook sitting next to the favors for the guests to sign so your sister will always be able to look at it and remember who was there (do check to make sure each pen writes before you make them, sometimes you'll get one in the pack that doesn't work :See picture in the post below.

Fortune Cookies with a printed message inside:

http://hamblyscreenprints.type...cookie-tutorial.html

Personalized/message Chapstick (I just used address labels-cut to size or larger labels for Tic Tac mints) these would be costly, but I wanted to remind you about them:

http://runwithglitter.blogspot...al-templet-free.html

Matchbook Mints - often at weddings but could to used for anniversary too. you could print something like "Love is mint to last forever" on the other side "Jane & Joe Jones 50th Wedding Anniversary 60-01-13

Here is an photo calender idea (the guests could save the picture when the calendar is out of date)
You could make one in Print Master and you'd be able to add a message under the photo:

Hi Joy...haven't 'seen' you in a long while. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Thanks for the ideas. And yes I have saved some of them for now and for later. Neat ideas for little Christmas gifts too. I've made the flat marble magnets before and they are easy to do. Still have a few to do, just haven't got them done.

I do thank all the ladies on here who gave suggestions. I really do appricate them.

Jean
