Second try...I'm making some favors for my son's wedding next month. I'm making "strawberries" with Hershey kisses inside and mini wrapped candy bars. Not doing the cherries shown in the picture as they are to pesky to do. And these are just the first ones I've done. The 'real' ones will look better. Does anyone have any other ideas on something to make? There are going to be close to 200 invited.!!! He is getting married in Vegas and reception next weekend in TX. Don't think I'm going to get to go to either, so just wanted to show my support. And don't want to be to 'arsty-crafty' and hope the berries won't be. Not worried about the candy bars. Any ideas and help will be appreciated. My old brain is stumped. Thanks Jean Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them, but you always know they're there. ![]()

Jean as you know there are as many ideas for favors as there are stars in the sky. LOL Does the strawberry have any special meaning for the new couple? The candybar wrapper turned out cute! The dollar store that use to be by me use to have tons of little boxes or pre-made bags to hold candy. Those could save you a lot of work and it maybe cost effective. As you know a google search will keep you busy for a long time. But the kisses are popular as well as mints. White and silver are pretty safe package colors. ******************************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snowman Tree & Wirebox Snowman: by Paintlady34 Password: snowmantree http://s1229.photobucket.com/a...69/Craftingfriends1/

Thanks for the reply Diane. No I just liked the strawberry. And a different way to present candy. My sister says it is strawberries and chocolate (bars). The wedding isn't formal and no place cards. And it's 2 days after Valentine's day. So she chose the colors of red and white with silver. Altho lavender/purple is her favorite color. I'll check in town tomorrow. Jean p.s. I've already got 105 strawberries cut out. They better want them.!!!!! lolThis message has been edited. you can get chocolate molds and make suckers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhUSPMNf4n4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiEiVzUO7Rw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-ey-TuGxTo I don't know if you have ever done any. They are easy, and you get little bags to cover them, can get ribbon with bride & groom's name on them or just pretty ribbon. I put the chocolate in coffee cups and micro them, little at a time until melted, I also have used a electric skillet with a towel in it to melt them always stiring. then just choose molds you want. check out the molds, hundreds, flowers, wedding bells, etc... here are some sites to give an idea. for color you just paint on some color then add plain chocolate to fill the sucker. I have seen many of these at weddings. If there is a chocolate shop near you they will have many molds, Michaels, you could get heart molds... if you have not done this, once you make a perfect mold it feels so good. like you did something special.. even thought it is easy. lol the melting chocolates come in bags. This message has been edited. Oh Cathy...you brought back so many memories for me. I used to do allllllll sorts of candy molding. Even had a few that weren't for little eyes. Had one of a 45 record that had a saying on that said 'Just for the record....I love you'. I 'painted' the word and all the little details on all of my other molds with a toothpick. I would stand all day and work on them. I loved doing them. Wish I still had them. I sold all of them several years ago due to health reasons. Now I could use them again. Thanks for the idea tho. I love it. JeanThis message has been edited. Last edited by: granny3641, Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them, but you always know they're there.

you could use heart molds, and make soaps... Vegas wedding, you could get shot glasses(i would search vegas casino and beg for them cheap) and from dollar store a bag of those t candles inside, tie a pretty gold or silver ribbon around it with a bow.. you could put sand with glitter under the candle to add sparkle.. a tube of mints with the caption, meant to be together with their names, Big pretzels, I get the bag of them from dollar store, dip them in melted chocolate and drizzel with sparkly candies for cake decorating.. cover in celephane paper with ribbon. You can order fans with bride & groom names on them,This message has been edited. Jean, just a thought. Get wee bags and fill with grass seed and put a topper on it that says something like Seeds for Life and Love. With there name and wedding date. Could also add a tag saying something about grass being resilient, hardy sustain life (feeds the birds) ect. I'm sure one of the wonderful crafters can help in that area. It wouldn't be to expensive. Have someone make a toppers to fill a sheet and print them at a copy place and use there paper cutters to cut apart. A bag of grass seed won't cost to much. Get some people together and form a assembly line. A scoop of seed. add topper/tag and it's done. Can be very symbolic. HTH Liz

Here's a few ideas. Give Seed Packet Wedding Favors, they are wrapped in a paper doily. I've seen the packs of flower seeds as low as 10 cents at the dollar general before. http://www.favorribbons.com/se...acket-wedding-favor/ Make Doily Candy Hearts http://blog.chictags.com/2011/...y-doilie-hearts.html http://the-wilson-world.blogsp...ough-valentines.html Here is a sticker to put on the bottom of Hershey kisses or mini peanut butter cups. Then put some in a bag with a topper.
