I like it, but it would be expensive since the template can only be used once.

But with the Cricuts now-a-days, you could cut your own stencils. (This was posted in 2008) And you won't be doing a lot of them. And still cheaper than buying new plates and platters every time you didn't get yours back from gatherings.

What a nice wedding or Christmas gift this would make.

I agree Jean! This is a good idea. I'm also glad I read down through the comments section. Someone said Pyrex wouldn't etch for her and another person answered that it's very hard and sometimes the etching cream needs to be left on longer and/or more put on.

I did this with a Pyrex baking dish, and it worked great. No problems with the etching cream. I did use a Circut to make the stencil. Anyway, it was easy and successful.
