Sorry site said threat-it didn't show up on mine. Here's a picture of it. It says to plant the hostas in pots and they will return every spring. Add geraniums and ivy for a fuller look. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Craftyannie, ![]()

Sorry ladies-the threat didn't show up on my computer (that's a scary thought). I added a pic above showing you about it.

Thanks for the picture. I would love to do that with the ones that I need to seperate, but I would think they would freeze in the pots during our Michigan winters. But it is worth trying it...I love the look. ******************************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snowman Tree & Wirebox Snowman: by Paintlady34 Password: snowmantree http://s1229.photobucket.com/a...69/Craftingfriends1/

I think this is an interesting idea too, and might try it with a couple of our big ones. Pot cuttings when dividing in the spring, and enjoy them all summer? Hostas freeze in the ground too, of course. To keep them in draining pots, I think one could clump them together and cover the group with straw or leaves for insulation over winter. It is not the freeze that damages/kills the plant, but the freeze/thaw that stimulates too early of growth when it is still winter. Or one could just remove them from the pot and plant them in the fall where needed.

Think it would work if you had concrete pot/planters, but certainly not clay or ceramic pots.

Thank you Annie! Love the idea of the hostas in a pot. I work at a nursery and hosta's in my area will not survive in a pot for winter. I would do them as a wonderful container planting for the summer and then put them into a holding spot ( ground ) winter. You could do so much this way. Again THANK YOU! love this idea. hosta are the one of the toughest plants for me to get out of the ground. usually go in with a saws-all... This would at least tame them a little... Pic is beautiful... thanks for sharing Melinda
