Give us a few details...what time of year? Formal wedding or informal? Reception type? Indoors or outside? Wedding colors? Is there a theme?
I love wedding showers, baby showers or parties in general!!
Would love to help you with your wedding plans

Just have to share what we did for my daughter's wedding this past April. Her favorite colors are purple and yellow, so that was the theme throughout--as a matter of fact, my son-in-law proposed to her with those specially printed M&M's that he ordered in purple and yellow---so cute and fun! Anyway, it was a small informal wedding with an outdoor reception. A very crafty friend of mine purchased mini picnic style baskets at Michaels. (They were about 3" wide, 2" tall.) She painted them yellow with purple trim and visa versa. She lined them loosely with clear cellophane, then planted each with a couple of pansies---they come in the most striking purple and yellow shades. On the lids of the baskets, she wrote the wedding date and the name of the bride and groom in fancy script. We had about 24 of these placed either near the cake, or spread on the various tables, and everyone got to bring one home! So, each guest or family got a cute cute basket, and they were all able to plant a beautiful flower to remember the day and the couple. We got TONS of great responses---they were really a highlight of a great day. Maybe you could look around for flowers in your colors and do something similar---Oh, she also sprinkled each basket with that really fine glitter (purple and gold.) It was very subtle, but gave a great sparkle in the sun. Hope this helps!

I looked at some historical websites to see what stuff was typical of the Renaissance and they said the Millifiore and Venetian glass, small silver keys and locks and the Gutenberg printing press are typical of the times.

One of the handiest wedding favors I ever got was a book mark...maybe find some little locks and keys and put them on ribbons for book marks?

How about having big banners printed that look like pages printed in ancient times?

And the Venetian glass can be recreated by using glass paints on clear votives.

And, so much of the oven bake clay now comes in millifiore designs, maybe they can be pressed onto serving pieces?

if they deleted this just go to tincat the link is always under my little devil image..lol
anyway if you look under grandkids on page 4 which is the last page I posted some pic of candy's wedding,,,and she had some really neat ideals I never seen befor,,one that I think would go with your theme is the banner I made for the boys,,,it is made with wooden rods and satin,,we were short on time ,and was in a hurry,,so she wrote the word here comes the bride,,and think it should have been painted or even just written in a thicker ink,,but it was neat,,she had the boys carry it ,
she also had a candy table it was a big hit,,lol

also I made these cute little tissue holder out of paper,,her colors were red black and white so we ended up making then black with red ribbon..they look really nice,I cant find the pic of them, but if you like .I know I have some laying around some where that I was testing the colors out,,and if I find one I can send it to you,,because I cant remeber the web site with the "how to",,
oh another ideal that she had ,,table theme place card,,lol they both love the show smallville and she had names to go with each table and was going to put them in out but we just didnt have time to set them up..also I dont knwo where she had it made but out front she had a movie poster with them on it,it was also very different and soemthing I never seen before,a pic is in the link also

My son got married a year ago any they had roses that held the bird seed. They took some satin fabric and sewed them into tubes (like 1 1/2 in) and then cut into 5-6 in. lengths, took one end of tube and attached to wire stem with floral tape. The other end is filled with bird seed part way up and the rest of fabric is tucked in. Looks like a rose. While holding the stem, the flower is "flicked" at the couple and the bird seed comes out. The supplies are really cheap and when the flowers are placed in vases they are very pretty. You can make any colors you want. Each guest is given one to shower the couple with birdseed.

Hope this makes sense. Can't seem to find a picture of them or the one I kept. I will keep looking and if I find it I will take pictures.

LOL Can you believe in 1975 I had those roses for my birdseed? They were so pretty and we added a leaf to the stem when wrapping them! We cut the satin into 3 x 6 rectangles then sewed them into tubes as described. I had them laying in a basket on the foyer table and guest took one home after tossing the seed at us they had a keepsake.
Kpoohbear I am so sorry I cant think of anything for renaissance!!! Never have done that theme before. I love the banner idea that Tmarie suggested. I am going to go peak at her pics. I know you are running out of time. Let us hear what you are coming up with!
Just a thought. Now that I am "older and wiser"(LOL) I would save cutting and sewing time if you made the long tubes and then cute them into the shorted lengths needed. Man I wished I had thought of that way back when!
