How to make fake coal? Sign In/Join
posted
Does anyone have a recipe or how to, to make fake coal. I want it for a snowman so no food recipes. It needs to last for a few years. It needs to be safe, so I can't use real coal or BBQ briquettes I've googled but no luck. I seen a recipe somewhere but don't remember where. Hope someone can help. Liz

Take a rock (whatever size you're wanting) and paint it with lamp black paint. Nice flat color to it.

May you have love to share, friends who care, and health to spare.

Have you thought of black soap? You could make some yourself with black coloring or dye. Cut it up with a knife to look like coal.

Easy homemade soap recipe

You can purchase black soap here

Or make bread rolls to look like coal and varnish them to keep as a craft.

I must have been dreaming about how to make coal cause when I woke up I had that I could also use that air drying clay that kids use. We'll see Thanks again . Liz

Spray paint a piece of styrofoam. I'm not sure that the color will go deep enough to color the white undernearth.
