Watched the videos (and got sucked in to watching several more while I was there lol. Youtube and pinterest tend to do that to me) and got everything out and tried that fine line pen. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! It took me a few seconds to get the hang of it and it was like, boom, boom, boom I had 5 ornaments either done or 1/2 way done. Sooo easy to do the writing, the snowflakes, the little tree branches and berries. I HATE that I am almost out of the blanks I cut out. What am I going to do when they are all done? I want to paint and draw! I'm hooked! Wish I had this little gem a while ago! Just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the person that originally posted the link for this!

I can't tell you how excited I am to know that it worked so well for you. I use to hate that part of painting because it would take so much time with a liner brush. I can't wait to give it a try after the holidays. Question: How did you mix your paint. Do you have an idea of how much paint to water you use? And it sounds like you are happy with the intensity of the color?

Aunt Diane - It makes painting those lines so so easy. As for the water to paint ratio, all I did was put a blob of paint on waxed paper and then just dripped one or two drops of water. You don't want more than that because if the paint is too thin it will just drip out or be thinned so much that the color will look faded so you are better off adding too little than too much. You can always add more. It just needs a very little thinning - if the paint drips off your brush, it's too thin. It's very little water. The biggest two things I can say are to make sure you use that little tool to start your paint flowing before using and when you go to wash it out watch that little tool. Mine rolled on the counter and into the sink and almost went down the drain. You will see with use how to water the paint, to write words with it, etc. When writing, you need to go a little slower. Otherwise the pen tends to skip. Just take a piece of paper and try using it there before trying it on something good. It won't take long - believe me. The only pain is now I wish I had several of them. I'll load the white and while I'm waiting for that to dry I have to empty that pen and reload with another color. Then several colors later I'm back reloading the white because I'm to a layer that needs the white again. Would be wonderful to have several colors loaded at one time. As for pictures of what I am doing, I am on my kid's laptop. My computer is down. I downloaded something which has made it impossible for me to get online. So up until I get it fixed, can't post pics. Hopefully it will be done next week because I have a few things to post. This message has been edited. Last edited by: hjvagar,

Thanks Diane. I can't wait to see them. What are they? Good luck with your computer! That is always so frustrating...
It is the neatest thing ever for doing fine lines. I have been doing ornaments for an order and only wish I had this earlier. I will be posting pics of them all when I get my own computer fixed. Got some nasty virus, trojan or something along those lines and can't get online until it's taken out. Hoping for sometime this week but have to wait for a friend of a friend to do it as I just don't have the money to take it in esp. this time of the year.

I just watched the video and the pen you are talking about about looks alot like a kitsa that I use to do wax on eggs with. Also I have fine line tips that I bought at Hobby Lobby that might do the same if you wire them to an end of an ink pen body. The tips I'm talking about fit on small bottles for glue or paint and I found them in the art supply section. I don't know how much the pens are but the tips come in 3 different sizes and are about 5.00. Thought I would share that with you.

They can be found @ Michaels, I bought mine there about 5 or 6 years ago, I would imagine they still have them in the section with the fine paint brushes.
Here are some pics of the one I made this morning. i was just messing around with the tips and I used the medium tip for this pen. Also I will tell you this. Use a heavy gauge strong wire. I didn't any on hand and it made the tip to bendy and cause it to skip a bit. i also used a straight pin to get the paint into the tip. I wrapped it around the smallest bottom part first and then in the center. When I got to the top I wrapped it and made a loop to catch the very top were you load the paint. This can be moved to one side to change the tips if you need a larger or smaller tip. These tips come with 3 bottles that you can screw the tips onto. Maybe some of you feel more comfortable using the pen method. I also unscrewed the pen and removed the insides and twisted the wire on the inside of the pen and glued it in the tip with epoxy. Hope the pics help.

Cool idea but I only paid $4 and change for mine and I only needed the small tip for fine lines. Maybe if I get into something where I need different size liners I might look into this. Thanks anyhow.
