I need a couple of table decorations for a "back to school" potluck at my church. I'm thinking of stacking some children's books in the center with some apples. Any other ideas ladies?

I bought some things at $Tree last year for our
church. But they were mostly runners for the wall or things to hang. I have tried to stay out of $tree lately--I spend too much--so I don't know what they have this year.
