I copied this from the At Home board on how to fix...downsize... the avatars. Will try it with my picture in a minute Good luck.

I just changed my avatar. Here is how I did it.
picked my new picture (I could not find the one that I was using) down sized the picture to about 70 kg. Clicked on Go than personal zone click on profile. In upper right corner click on view/edit than under your avatar picture on the right click on edit than custom avatar in next block click on upload custon avatar than click on browse than click on your new or resized picture than click on change avatar.

Here goes...this is 3.55 kb. lol

You may have to play with the sizing if you use your own picture. But it did work with a smaller kb size.
