I saw a post from penmac (I think) a while back where she used air-dry clay. I thought the bulb she made (an elf) was so cute so I went out and bought the clay. Well, I tried to make antlers with it for a project and they are just so darn brittle they keep breaking. What started out as about 4" antlers are now less than 2". All I did was form them and let them sit for several days. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that darn brittle? I really wanted to use this stuff but I'm afraid to now. Help!!!

Hi, just a thought. Could you take some wire and shape it like antlers then put the clay around it to cover the wire. It's funny you talking about it cause there's a project that I'd like to use it for but I don't remember what it was called. She's not on the board that often anymore. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion. Good Luck, Liz

The stuff Penmac used is Apoxie Sculpt. Is that what you used. I found a link for you. HTH Liz http://www.avesstudio.com/inde...=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

Ugh! Of course I bought the wrong stuff. I just bought regular air dry clay. Now I have to figure out what to do with 5 lbs of it lol! Thanks so much! Hmmmm I'm wondering if I just add some epoxy to the air dry clay if it might make it harder and more durable? No harm in trying since I have no idea what else to do with it lol. Thanks again!

I like to use quikwood, you can buy it online or Home Depot. It runs about $5.-$6.00 for a tube of it. I works great and is a epoxy product too and it doesn't take much to make whatever you want to make. I gets really hard just like wood and you have about a 15 min. window to work with. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UT...f=pd_sl_7oezb8s8dq_p I have made several snowman with it. Will try and post some pictures. I sometimes use it with my gourds too. This is just the best stuff! DJ

Wow thanks DJ. I wouldn't mind trying that since it's something I can buy locally plus that sure is reasonable!
