Painted a few clipboards this weekend. It was good to have a few hours to paint these. My daughter is a principal and holding a retreat next week and I painted these for her for door prizes for her teachers. First one is a painting of a rooster that I took of my son's mean rooste. It was so pretty, but mean. Enjoy. P.S. I can't get my atvar to change size or delete. Sorry it is so big. DJ
I always enjoy your clipboards and am thinking about painting some that I have in my stash. How do you finish yours? Do you use a spray or brush-on finish and do you remove the hardware before painting? I prefer removing any hardware before painting an item but looking at the clip boards I have I think removing the hardware would be an impossible task. Thanks for your input.

I love all of your clipboards, they are beautiful! The butterfly one that you use as your atavar is my favorite, then the rooster. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Craftyannie,
Frannie, I do not remove the hardware I just paint around it. Also I use a Satin Varnish from DecoArt to seal my designs. I was thinking today that maybe I should have painted the backs instead of the fronts so when someone is using them you still could see the painting. Just a thought. DJ
I usually use and prefer Satin finishes and for something like a clipboard a brush-on varnish would probably be more durable. I have seen them where both the back and front were painted. I work at Wild Birds Unlimited and I've been wanting to paint myself one with a bird on the back (so it's seen, like you mentioned) then maybe paint a matching border on the front. I think I'll start looking through some things and see what I come up with. Thanks for your reply.

Rainee, I love your idea of putting on a boarder on the front side. Check out Shirley Koenig's books there are wonderful. She paints lots of nature. DJ
