Does anyone know where I can find a template of a cookie to make invitations. My neighbor and I are going to put on a cookie swap and would like to make the invitations to look like a cookie.

    Thanks in advance.

You could use a gingerbread cutter and trace around it then color it on 1 side on the other put your info on.

Good idea, icecream. You could use any cookie cutters for templates, as a matter of fact. I'll bet there are scrapbook papers out there that have cookies all over them too.

I had a cooking exchange last year and made all of my invitations out of cookie cutters, cut them out on paper then decorate them. Each friend got a different shape for their invitation, then at the cookie exchange I gave them the actual cookie cutter tied to a goodie bag.

Exactly how does a cookie swap work? Is this something that you do with friends or neighbors? It sounds like fun.

The way we did it was once you get your invitation let the hostess know what kind you will be bringing, so there are no repeats. You are supposed to bring one dozen for every person there but we just asked everyone to bring 2 dozen. We had 10 people show up and every one got to take home 2 dozen cookies with a variety.
We served coffee, cocoa, cider, and soft drinks as well. The house was decorated and we had a great time. It is a great way to get to know your neighbors, etc..

The way I do mine, I send the invitation with a note that I need to know what kind they will be bringing when they rsvp I write it next to their name. I also ask them to email their recipe to me ahead of time then at the time of the party I have little recipe books made up of everyones recipe and I give it to them. I make my invitation cards out of cookie cutters and at the party they get the cookie cutter. You can get like 40 or so from Michaels for I think it was 9.99 very cheap. I also serve finger foods so we don't get too much of a sugar high. last year I had the guest bring their children and we had a cookie decoration contest for the kids and a craft for them to do. Dont forget a couple of games for the adults to play and make sure you have the christmas music going,if its a christmas cookie exchange. Oh and everyone should wear something holiday. If you would like I can email you all of the information. I have a book by gooseberry patch that I used the added to it.

Do you have any pics or details about the recipe book that you do for the recipes from the Cookie Exchange. I really like that idea.

Trace the gingerbread cutter onto a brown paper grocery bag & decorate. Use pinking shears to cut tiny pieces of felt to make rick-rack, too. Have fun !

I am thinking about hosting several cookie swaps. Actually one will be a cookie swap, one a cookie swap and the one I plan to do at work will be cookies or homemade candy.

I have several unique sets of friends and I want to have separate events for them. The large one will be the combined cookie and/or candy and will be held at work.

We have a large conference room in our main office and it also has an adjacent kitchen area for clean-up. I plan to invited all the people from my department and also some from several other buildings on campus that we are close with. I will have it start right after work on a day that I actually don't have to work. That way I can be there and get everything set up and ready. We will, of course, have samples of cookies and probably tea, spiced tea or cider, and maybe something light and not so sweet. I am actually thinking about fresh fruit (the frozen stuff from Sam's is usually very good)

For this one, we will concentrate on everything being in containers suited to be carried. I know in the home exchanges, sometimes they package them there. This won't work at the office. I am going to suggest that they either purchase and use the holiday tins or plastic bowls with lids or decorative boxes. I was in Dollar Tree today and noticed that they have lots of these in various sizes. I am about ready to go ahead and send out a Save the Date notice about this with the general rules. That way, everyone will be able to go ahead and find the containers early before they disappear.

What do you think about this idea?
