i made this last yr for our local fair. I'm in charge of the scarecrow contest and we had a clinic in July. So b/c i can't be in the contest, i really wanted to try something... and i love chickens, so this went in front of the chicken barn... that's me in the pic..to show you how big this thing was... i had a blast making him...not sure what I'll be making this yr...i added paint to him too... really easy once you got going. except i couldn't finish it by myself, i could wrapped my arms around him...

That is so cool. Did you use a wire frame under the straw?

no, wood frame... then added straw and wrapped twine around it... i think i added pieces of Styrofoam in there too, to make it weight less and a better filler. one big piece in the body part...

The coordinator of the poultry barn, put a fence around him and a lot of GOOD information about back yard chickens ...
Got a lot of interest, so i'm hoping for a bigger clinic this yr...

The guy that did the class, came on Sunday with his blue guys group. they were cool and the pics are on my phone and i don't know how to get them on line... Frown

There was a lady that did 2 sunflowers, she was from the flower club, so they displayed them in front of their building... it was nice... the over all winner of the contest was a piggie that had a sign that said "Eat more fish" the pig had a fishing hat on and a fishing pole next to him, it was cute... the girl came to the clinic too...
