Craft Show Question Sign In/Join
posted
I am going to do a craft show on Dec. 8th and make painted signs. They are about 2 feet long and various widths. They have all different sayings on them. This is my first craft show in a few years and the first one selling signs. About how many signs should I bring? What do you think? Thanks.

Well, I'm a horrible one to answer this question because I would say as many as you can possibly make between now and then, working all hours of the day and night! Because that is how I roll. If I don't pour my heart and soul into it, I feel I haven't given it my best effort. I feel I have a very short time to make as little money as possible, so I better kill myself making as much stuff as I possibly can so I can make as much money as I possibly can. See, told ya you probably shouldn't ask me! HA!
That being said, I always remember Sam Walton's words "stack 'em high and let 'em fly" - and I find it is true, the larger display I have of something the more I sell. And, the signs aren't going to go to waste like a food product would, and can be stored until next year.
The ultimate question is how well is the craft show advertised and how well attended is it? You can have oodles of product, but with no foot traffic, no sales. So, I guess if you know it is a well attended "money flying around" craft show, make tons. If not, well, make fewer.

I agree I make as much as I can and the more you have in your booth the more people will visit it. I also found this to be true if you can add some lights to your booth more people will come in. If possible make your booth into a "U" shape so people can walk into it. Makes it much more invititng instead of putting up a table in front of you. Think of that as a barrier. I have seen it over and over and then they wonder why they didn't sell anything.
I could go on and on but I will quit here. so like luvs2click put as much in your booth as possible. Good luck.

DJ - now isn't that funny. I find no one comes in if I make my space a U shape. People are lazy. If they don't have to walk right by it, they look from a distance to see if it's worthy of an extra step or two to look more closely. I have rearranged my tables in the middle of a show (back to the straight line, HAVE to walk by, in your face kind of arrangement) to get sales flowing again. Perhaps it depends on what's being sold. I'm like you, I could go on and on! My favorite topic! My sis and I really bore our family with this subject when we get together!
