Hello everyone & so sorry I have been mia for awhile. I have became an important part of a dog rescue that keeps me quite busy. If I'm not helping with fundraisers, I am doing some kind of printing design work & trying to keep up with a blog for them too. This March the rescue has been ask to participate in a Bisquit Bingo, they will have a table for donations & a chinese auction. This is a huge step for the rescue being invited to such an event.I am making baskets for the chinese auction & was wondering if you ladies could give me some ideas. Some of the suggestions/ideas given to us basket makers are no pet related items. We can do kid related, candles, food but we are to be creative. If anyone would like to donate to a basket or whatnot please let me know. Thanks a bunch for any help. Mar

A friend of mine's brother-in-law had a fund raiser for hospital bills related to cancer treatments. I made up a basket for it. All I did was take a nice bottle of wine, 2 redneck wine glasses, a box of chocolates and I put silk roses around them in a basket. Topped it with a nice bow. At Zack's old school they had baskets every year for a Christmas gala. Some went to businesses and got gift cards, some made up baskets with school stuff - markers, crayons, construction paper, etc., some made up movie night baskets with a DVD, popcorn, plastic glasses and a 2 liter of soda and the one year I won that one it had little stuffed characters from the movie (Shrek). A few had lotions and loofah sponges and soaps. Another had a couple cake mixes, pot holders, one of those silicone pans and a spatula. Not sure if you can put baked goods in them but maybe make up a basket with a big jar of that cookie mix in a jar recipe and a cookie sheet (They have the silicone ones of that too that you can roll up) and pot holders or even bake up a batch of cookies and use that instead of the mix.

My dd's elementary school did an auction each year. Each grade was given a theme and the basket donations were to relate to it. Some of the themes were Summer Fun, Winter fu, Spruce up your space, Grillin', Sheer Endulgence, Art Time and Kitchen. They actually had cute names for each one but I can't remember them. I did do the printing for them but I have deleted all the files as she has been out of that school for a while. Summer Fun had any kind of summer related related stuff - beach or pool stuff, yard games etc. Winter fun often had tickets for snowtubing (donated by the business) and gloves, hats, snacks and hot chocolate mixes. For Spruce up your space, I decorated a paint can and filled it with disposable paint brushes, a couple of good ones, a roller and cover, drop clothes, painters tape and I got Home Depot to give me gift cards that could be used to by paint. Hope this was helpful.

Oooh thank you, I can't wait to put my thinking cap on & get busy with your ideas & mine. I was stuck with just a garden theme or Easter but all the ideas you have shared are great. One of my ideas is using my journals & creating a basket full of notecards, pen & pencil set. For the benefit in Dec that I made baskets for I made to Steeler themed baskets using my bottle lights, with snacks & a small kids football. The other two I made was Christmas themes with Christmas bottle lights, hand decorated gift bags, ornaments & a snowman soup packet or two. All baskets were neatly wrapped with ribbons & bows. My crafting is normally Christmas related. lol Thank you
