Thanks to CraftyMis for posting the candy trays. I meant to make them last year, totally forgot about them and then when I saw her post decided to do it before I forgot again. With mine I used a silicone cake pan to bake it. Worked perfectly. I was going to take it out when the candies were more spaced (Was pretty that way) but decided to wait until they were melted pretty much together since I wanted to give it to Shannon to use with something she made for her friend's Mom. She can sit it on top of the tray for an extra little gift.

I think I let mine melt too long..it came out very thin and out of shape. I tried a rectangle....but free formed one, didn't have a pan. Probably should use a form I guess, huh?
This one is very nice.

I made one on a pizza pan day before yesterday, then I accidentally bumped it and it cracked down the middle, so yesterday I thought I would reheat it and let it melt a little more and forgot all about it, needless to say it boiled over in my oven, luckily I have on tin foil, so I am done for this year, may try it again. Yours is gorgeous, great job. Joan

Thank you everyone. Paintlady, pretty sure you could do this with other hard candies. I'm going to try it during Valentine's day so Shannon can pass them out to her friends. I'm going to experiment with them to see if I can't get them into a heart lol. Been thinking of other holidays too. Will post if I ever get to it and it works.

I love your's - the red and green.
My doughter made one in the shape of a tree. I used it to carry homemade cookies to DD#3.

The kiddles were complaining cooky crumbs had stuck to it. Taking it over in the car, the humidity must have gotten to it. Next time I'll put clear wrap on first.

Wow how did she get it to stay in that shape? I've been wondering if making a little border out of aluminum foil or something would help it to hold it's shape. If I can find some pretty hard candy I want to try to see if I can make one in the shape of an egg using different color candies to make the designs on it for Easter. I used the plastic wrap on mine too. It does tend to get a little sticky. You could probably dust it with confectioner's sugar to use as a tray at a party if you didn't want to use the wrap.

I think if I made this I would like to seal it somehow with varnish or something to make it last. I wander if that would keep it from being sticky ??
